JURY (Korea, 2013)
North American Premiere

Directed by: Kim Dong-Ho
Starring: Ahn Sung-Ki, Kang Soo-Yeon, Jung In-Gi, Park Hee-Bon
Legendary Korean actors Ahn Sung-Ki, Kang Soo-Yeon, Jung Ing-Gi, Japanese director Katsue Tomiyama , and British film critic Tony Rayns all play themselves as jury members of the Asian International Short Film Festival in Seoul, with a thankless task ahead of them to decide on which films and filmmakers get to win the prizes. Easier said than done. They clash over different opinions on what constitutes a good film, there are communications issues due to language barriers, some members suffer from jet lag, and jury president Ahn Sung-Ki struggles to maintain order as matters start to spin out of control and arguments become more personal. With a screenplay written by Zhang Lu (director of Dooman River) and Yoon Seong-ho (director of Milky Way Liberation Front), first time director Kim Dong-Ho (76-year-old founder and current honorary director of the Busan International Film Festival) delivers a charming satire that celebrates films, and those who make, watch, and critique them. Other notable talent behind the camera includes assistant director Kim Tae-yong, (Late Autumn), and editors Kim Hyeong-gu (cinematographer on Memories of Murder) and Kang Woo-suk (producer/director of Public Enemy).
