Bollywood is famous for its lavish musicals stuffed to the gills with lavish production numbers, and every summer Bollywood rolls out their all-singing, all-dancing big budget blockbusters that make grown men weep with joy. Now imagine one of these candy colored musicals that’s also a superhero movie. A superhero movie with action choreography designed by Hong Kong’s legendary Ching Siu-tung (A Chinese Ghost Story, Hero, Swordsman 2). The movie you’re imagining – the one that’s making your legs twitch and your face spasm into something we earth people call a “grin” – has a name: KRRISH.

Starring Bollywood’s number one heart throb, Hrithik Roshan, KRRISH is the much anticipated sequel to to Hrithik’s E.T. movie, Koi…Mil Gaya, but these two movies are only loosely connected and you don’t need to have seen K…MG to gobble up KRRISH. All you need to know is that Hrithik was a mentally challenged fellow who found an alien in the woods which gave him superpowers and increased his intellect. He got married to the ever-eligible Preity Zinta and the two had a baby named Krishna (or Krrish) who is, oddly enough, also played by Hrithik. Now, in KRRISH, the kid is all grown up and he takes a trip to Singapore where he discovers that a) he has superpowers (awesome!), b) girls are pretty (double awesome!), and c) Dr. Siddhant Arya is trying to take over the world with his supercomputer (bummer!). It’s up to Krrish to stop Dr. Arya, get the girl, rescue some circus performers from a fire, unleash out some gnarly dance moves, and bust up the screen in total super-bad fashion. And when we say “super-bad” we don’t mean, “not very good”. We mean “like Michael Jackson.”
